Budget Beauty Tool : Revlon Slanted Tweezers

by Sophia on September 11th, 2007

I hate myself for being a brand snob, but sometimes I am thankful because I have that tendency, too. This time, I hated myself for it.

In between from my monthly visits to the salon to have my brows threaded ( in which I sometimes delay because of my busy schedule ), I use the good ‘ol tweezer to groom my brows and pluck out the growing hair. I’ve been experimenting various brands of tweezers out there until I stumbled into Revlon’s Slanted Tweezers when I was shopping at Watson’s ( a health and beauty store ). I checked the price, it was around $3. It was affordable enough, so I bought it.

When I got home and tried it, I immediately fell in love with this pair of tweezers. It performed quite precisely, and I had no trouble plucking out my growing brow hair. No pain, just a continuous job well done on my brows! With other tweezers, I couldn’t even “catch” the brow hair , or the tips were too sharp that the hair gets cut ( argh ). Clearly, Revlon performed very well, and it was very worth the price that I paid for.

Fast forward to another time, say, a few months after my trusty Revlon Slanted Tweezers gave up on me ( well, good things come to an end! ), and it was time for me to buy a new pair of tweezers. That time, I couldn’t find it in the shelves, so I tried looking for another brand. Somehow in my strolling, a shiny, professional looking pair of tweezers caught my eye, and alas, the price was indeed professional, too! I took the plunge and brought it home with me, but to my dismay, the performance wasn’t just as good as Revlon’s. On that moment, I missed my good ‘ol budget tweezers, and somehow wished that I found them in the shelves when I was in the store. I didn’t get to use this new pair much, and went to the mall to find me a new pair of Revlon Slanted Tweezers.

Lesson learned? With tweezers, price isn’t everything - just don’t go on too low, and an extremely high priced one does not mean absolute perfection. Revlon Tweezers are so good, and so reasonably priced, that I know that I need not splurge on really expensive tweezers!

Tweezer Tip : Pluck individual hairs in the direction of hair growth, and it is best to schedule to do your brow grooming routine right after a hot shower when the skin is damp, and pores open.
