Lightstim Anti-Acne Light

by Sophia on February 1st, 2008

anti acne light stimulator

Here comes another beauty gadget that promises to clear up acne via phototherapy. I have tried phototherapy months ago ( conclusion, to be posted soon ) by using the Baby Quasar, which was for anti-aging, and this one, called the Lightstim, has three models - one for anti-aging, one for anti-acne, and one for professional use.

According to the company that makes Lightstim, phototherapy is proved to be effective in curing moderate acne,

In 2000, a research study conducted by Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital in London concluded: “We have found that phototherapy with mixed blue-red light, probably by combining antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action, is an effective means of treating acne vulgaris of mild to moderate severity, with no significant short-term adverse effects.”

How it works? The blue light helps kill the bacteria responsible for acne and rosacea, while the infrared ( red ) lights minimize inflammation of the pores.

This anti-acne beauty gadget would not substitute the current anti-acne regimen or products that you are already using, but will “work” with the products to hasten to clear up the face.

This baby retails for $279 - not cheap, but less expensive than one zit zapper that I know of.

    Hi Maureen!
I would not be able to try this because I already have another light therapy device called Baby Quasar- for me, that baby works, and the technology’s about the same for both , I think :)

Yeah I bought one of these. They have a pretty good return policy so I figured I’d give it a try. It works as long as you continue to use it. If you stop using it, it stops working. I do it 5 days a week for like a half-hour watching tv, and I have basically no more acne.
