Makeup Brush 101 : Concealer Brush

Gone are the days when sponges reigned the makeup scene. I say- no more sponges!!! ( Woops, a brush fanatic here! ) I also don’t encourage people to use their fingers to apply because to be honest, brushes do a better job, and with their make and precision, they are considered a girl’s set of magic wands!
First up our Makeup Brush 101 is the Concealer Brush.
A concealer brush is a brush that is used to cover imperfections - imperfections include redness, blemishes, or even scars. The make of a concealer brush is usually synthetic, not made of animal hair, to be able to work with liquid and cream concealers. In my opinion synthetic brushes tend to “load up” products on them and work quite well with liquids. There are several kinds of concealer brushes - I even consider the foundation brush a concealer brush, just a very very large one. Even lip brushes with very fine tips or oval tips and of synthetic make can pass for concealer brushes!
Concealer brushes that have oval shaped bristles often work well on blemishes, undereye circles, and can even be used to apply wet makeup, while those that are smaller and have “precise tips” like the MAC 194 that I just bought is heaven-sent for blemishes and small imperfections that you’d love to conceal.
To use, simply whip up your concealer brush, get some concealer in the brush, but do not get too much yet, then apply on targetted areas. For the undereyes, apply little by little and blend carefully so as to avoid caking ( it is crucial for the undereyes not to have visible concealed areas, we would want is as naturally concealed as possible , which should pass for “unnoticeable” ). For the blemishes and dry patches, it’s a bit tricky. First, apply with a precise concealer brush on the ’spots’, let it sit for about 20-30 seconds for the concealer to settle on the imperfection because if it’s still creamy, it might be “brushed away” when you try to blend it. Try to blend around the edges first, and carefully blend to the skin.
Any thoughts or questions about concealing? I think it’s my favorite routine in my makeup application as I don’t have perfect skin.
