My Pros and Cons of Having a Magnifying Mirror

I think I’ve mentioned that I’m moving houses, and the adjustment isn’t easy. First things first, for a beauty blogger like me, my new house still has no mirror installed. I was pained for weeks as I settled for a small compact ( which would not simply do ), and one day while strolling at the Hardware section ( of all the places! ) I decided not to wait til our big mirrors and vanity tables were bought - I needed magnifying mirror! With my friend’s horror story, I settled for a magnifying mirror which lets you see as is on one side, and lets you see 2.5x magnification as you flip it on the other sides.

In a week’s time of using , staring endlessly, and worshipping my mirror, here’s the pro’s and con’s that I’ve come up with :

Pros

1. You get to see stray hair quite easily - works for me because my regrowth is on a daily basis!
2. You get to be warned as you see the smallest traces of dirt on your pores ( to clean up! )
3. You get to see everything
4. You get to apply makeup quite flawlessly

Cons

1. Sometimes, the truth hurts! Too much macro on the skin makes us feel that we don’t have perfect skin - what more of a breakout? Specially for a girl like me who has microcomedones and open pores, this is kinda depressing. Gosh to think that I only bought the 2.5 x magnification. I wonder what would happen to my emotional quotient if I settle for a 10x Hahaha!
2. The tendency of overplucking the eyebrows would be high.
3. Unnoticeable problems tend to be over-noticed, and fussed about
4. You would tend to stare at it for a long long time! Haha!

I promise, from now on, I am a devotee of the magnifying mirror. I truly appreciated on what it could do for me, so now, I’m going to save up for a new one! The picture above is a Swirl Stem Pedestal 5x to 1x Mirror, is absolutely gorgeous , and I feel I would love it because it looks so classy and regal! I’m saving up! Haha!

Well, how about you? What can you say about your magnifying mirror? Love it, or hate it?

I’d love to hear from you!

I’ve always heard that you should never pluck your eyebrows while using a magnified mirror because it does encourage you to over-pluck. Also, I think I had forgotten that I have a magnified mirror until I read this post… I’ll have to go dig it out.

I have that mirror! It was a gift
    from my sister-in law.
At first it was scary as all get out.
Now I can’t do without it.

    Very funny!

For me? I love the magnifying mirror because you can start with the magnifying side and then WOOSH flip over to the normal side and feel instantly better about yourself!
