Reasons Why I Like Tweezerman Tweezers

by Sophia on April 30th, 2008

tweezerman tweezers

I remember a few months ago that I’ve purchased my first ever pair of Tweezerman tweezers - in pink! I’ve been intrigued on how it is held at a high pedestal and considered such a legend. I’ve long denied myself this brand thinking that I can make do with less expensive counterparts, and just now, as I had some extra money to shell, I decided , once and for all, to try it and see for myself if it’s newfound awe and affirmation that Tweezerman is indeed a legend, or just a plain whine that it’s simply overrated and overpriced. Well, here are my pros and cons.

I’d like to start with the con

–It’s expensive. $25.00. Okay. It took me a while to convince myself to give this a shot. For the record, my past tweezers were Revlon ( priced at $5 - $ 6 ) that fared well on me actually, and LaCross ( priced at $10 ) that I considered not so good because it wore down quite easily, and did not do a great job in plucking stubborn brow hair.

Why just one con? It’s because I love my Tweezerman to pieces just about now! Why?

Pros ( with an “s”)

- It’s pink. Well, it’s in my favorite color ( I don’t know if this is really counted hahaha )

- The built is sturdy. The material of the tweezer is not the type that could be just thrown away easily because it’s as light as the usual tweezers. I’m not saying it’s boulderrific, though!

- Here’s the most important part - it can pluck stray brow hair quite effectively, even the most stubborn ones and really short ones that I don’t normally get to get rid off with my past tweezers. No need for “shaving” when they’re too short just to make them look nonexistent. I was actually in awe as I tried doing this ( trying to pluck really short, and I mean short stray hair ) , because I thought it wouldn’t be plucked off. I felt like a little kid being spoiled ( like pointing - ” I want this! ” then I just get what I want. Sounds really cheesy, but the beauty geek in me felt that way. Seriously. ). Eyebrow grooming will never be the same with me. I swear.

- It’s very sharp. Well, it is the first thing I’d notice about tweezers and most of them usually are like this. I’m glad that there’s a lifetime guarantee that my Tweezerman tweezers can be sharpened anytime!

Lately, it’s just Tweezerman that I’ve been reaching for and I’ve been guarding it with my life. I know I’m a klutz and I tend to lose things most of the time, but I think I should practice being careful with Tweezerman because it’s expensive and well, I don’t think I want to lose it anytime soon because I will not be able to find a replacement for it this quick, for sure! So, would I recommend Tweezerman to you? I’d say this with all pride and giddiness, YES. Every girl ( or boy, who love shaping their brows ) must have one!

I have this exact pair and I adore them. I’ve never had tweezers so good in my life! Definitely worth the splurge!

    OK… boy here : )
I have the opposite problem, long Irish eye brows. Luckily just a few right now. I like to pluck them before they get curly. It’s gonna be a hot mess when I get old!
I just wanted to put some tips out there (no pun intended, HA). Never let anyone sharpen your tweezers because then they will cut the hair right at the skin line and leave that awful looking black “dot” of hair under the skin. The secret to great tweezers is to find some that have thin, perfectly aligned tips, then keep them clean. Tricks for doing this include putting a thin towel or piece of cloth between the tweezer tips, pushing the tips to close and while holding them closed, gently pull the towel out. You can also clear the grooves inside the tips with your fingernail. Be sure to wipe the inside of the tips with rubbing alcohol after use too.
